Pool Cage Rescreening in Venice, Sarasota & Southwest Florida

Gulf Coast Rescreen rescreens pool cages, lanais and screen entries from Bradenton to Port Charlotte, from a single torn panel to a full cage. Most homeowners go with standard Phifer 18/14 screen, or Phifer 20/20 No-See-Um near water where the little biting bugs get through. A typical rescreen takes one day, we haul the old screen away, and every job is backed by our 5-year warranty.

Rescreening Services

We’re a family-owned company in Venice, and rescreening is what we’ve done for 20 years. Here’s what we handle:

Full Pool Cage Rescreen

When the screen is worn out all over, we take it all down and rescreen the whole cage, walls and roof. Old screen comes out, new spline goes in, and the new screen goes in tight. We haul the old screen away when we leave.

Single Panel and Storm Damage Repair

A branch, a ladder, the dog, or a storm took out a panel or two? We’ll replace just the damaged panels and match what you have. Small repairs like this are handled as a service call.

Storm damage often reaches the roofline too. We also handle soffit, fascia and gutter repair.

Screen Doors

We rescreen and fix pool cage and lanai screen doors so they close right and keep bugs out.

Spline and Screws

If the spline is shot or the screws are rusting, new screen won’t hold. We check them on every job and replace what needs it.

Lanais, Entries and Screen Rooms

We also rescreen lanais, front entry enclosures and screen rooms, using the same screens and the same care.

Patch a Panel or Rescreen the Whole Cage?

We’ll tell you straight which one you need. Here’s how to judge it yourself:

  • Patch it when the damage has an obvious cause, like a branch, a ladder or a pet, and the rest of the screen is still tight and holds its color.
  • Rescreen the cage when the screen is giving out on its own: pulling out of the spline, sagging when you push on it, gone chalky or brittle, or you’re patching panels every few months.

If you’re not sure, call us. We’ll take a look and give you an honest answer.

Choosing Your Screen

We install four screens. Here’s the plain-English difference:

Phifer 18/14 Standard

Phifer calls it the traditional choice for pool and patio enclosures. It’s vinyl-coated fiberglass in charcoal or silver gray. It keeps out mosquitoes, gives you the clearest view and the most breeze, and costs the least. It won’t stop no-see-ums.

Phifer 20/20 No-See-Um

A tighter weave that stops no-see-ums, gnats and sand flies, the tiny biting bugs that come off canals and wet ground at dusk, while still giving you good airflow and a good view. It’s GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions. If you live on the water or get bitten in the evenings, this is the one. The trade-off is a little less airflow than 18/14, a slightly darker look, and it needs washing more often.

Phifer TuffScreen

A heavier, tougher screen for spots that take a beating from pets, kids, pool poles or falling palm fronds. It’s darker from the inside, and it’s built for strength, not to stop no-see-ums.

Super Screen

A vinyl-coated polyester screen from Super Screen, a Fort Myers, Florida company, made for pool enclosures and screened patios. It’s a different material from fiberglass and built to be tougher, so it resists tears and punctures and stands up better to pets and everyday knocks. Its coating resists sun damage and fading and helps stop mold and mildew, and the maker backs it with a 10-year limited warranty. We can show you samples side by side so you can see the difference against your own yard.

No screen is completely bug-proof. Open doors and gaps let bugs in, but the right screen makes a big difference.

Our Rescreening Process

  1. Free estimate. We come out, look at the frame, spline, screws and doors, and measure.
  2. Written quote with the screen spelled out, so you know exactly what you’re getting.
  3. Fast scheduling. Once the contract is signed, we can schedule you the same day.
  4. Protect your space. We cover the pool deck, furniture and plants.
  5. Out with the old. We remove the old screen and spline, and haul it all away.
  6. In with the new. New screen goes in tight with new spline. We fix what needs fixing as we go.
  7. Walkthrough. We check every panel and door with you before we leave. Most rescreens are done in one day.

What Affects the Price

Every cage is different, so we quote each one after we see it. Full rescreens are priced by the square foot. Small repairs are handled as a service call. Here’s what moves the price:

  • Size of the cage and how many panels
  • Height. Two-story and tall cages take more time and equipment.
  • Which screen you pick (18/14, No-See-Um, TuffScreen or Super Screen)
  • Condition of the spline and screws
  • Screen doors
  • Whether you’re pairing the rescreen with a repaint

Financing is available.

Rescreen and Repaint Together

If your frame is faded, chalky or rust-streaked, the best time to paint it is while the screen is off. Doing both in one project gets you a cage that looks brand new, and you only have one crew in your backyard. See our pool cage painting and restoration service.

If the frame itself can’t be saved, we also build new pool cage enclosures. And to keep new screen looking its best, ask about power washing.

What Our Customers Say

“We just had the best experience with Gulf Coast Rescreen! We initially called for a quote to rescreen all the panels, paint the cage, add an extra door, and replaced the rusted screws with stainless steel ones. Paul could’ve said “sure!” and quoted for all the requested work. Instead, he indicated that only two panels needed to be replaced (and schooled us on what to look for when it was time to replace the screens); the cage just needed to be pressure washed, and he could change out the screws and add the door for a very reasonable price – all in one day! The 3 man crew returned in 10 days and did a wonderful job in one day! The new door is such a welcome improvement and it is amazing how good our cage looks with the new white powder-coated stainless steel screws instead of all the rusted ones (cage is 20 years old). Thanks to everyone!”

L B, 5-star Google review

“Paul came out and looked at my hurricane-damaged pool cage, brought Chris in to look at it too, and came up with a plan to stabilize and reinforce it. Ismael and Chad came a few days later to do the work. They were very thorough and worked about half the day to use a come-along to straighten it where the hurricanes had pushed it out of alignment, then to install bracing in strategic places and to rescreen where the braces were added. The pool cage is now straight and vertical again, thanks to Gulf Coast Rescreen!”

Bart Rhoten, 5-star Google review

“We couldn’t be happier with the incredible job Gulf Coast Rescreen did on our lanai cage and floor! From start to finish, the entire experience was smooth, professional, and stress-free. The crew was fantastic—friendly, hardworking, and clearly took pride in every detail of their work.

The transformation is amazing, and it’s made such a difference in how we enjoy our outdoor space. Everything looks brand new, and the quality really shows. Huge thanks to everyone involved—you all did a truly outstanding job!”

Dave Laber, 5-star Google review

Pool Cage Rescreening FAQs

It depends on the size of the cage, its height, the screen you choose and the condition of the spline and screws. We price full rescreens by the square foot and handle small repairs as a service call. Call (941) 536-7529 for a free quote. Financing is available.

If one or two panels are damaged by something obvious and the rest of the screen is still tight, a repair makes sense. If the screen is sagging, chalky, pulling out of the spline, or you keep patching it, a full rescreen is the better buy. We’ll tell you honestly which one you need.

Phifer 18/14 is the standard screen. It keeps out mosquitoes and gives the best view and airflow. Phifer 20/20 No-See-Um has a tighter weave that also stops no-see-ums, the tiny biting bugs near water, with a little less airflow and a slightly darker look.

Look for screen pulling out of the spline, sagging when you press on it, a chalky or faded look, brittleness, or tears that keep popping up. Florida sun is hard on screen, so if you’re seeing several of these, it’s time for a rescreen.

A typical rescreen takes one day. Very large or two-story cages can take longer, and we’ll tell you up front.

Once the contract is signed, we can schedule you the same day.

Yes. With the screen already off, it’s the best time to paint the frame, and you get one project instead of two.

Yes. Our rescreening is backed by a 5-year warranty.
